The Bismarck Fire Department announced on April 16 that it will conduct an emergency response drill at the Public Works Water Treatment Plant, located at 615 River Road, on April 17 between 10 a.m. and noon.

The purpose of the drill is to simulate a chlorine gas leak and test the fire department’s hazardous material response procedures. This exercise aims to improve coordination between the fire department and water treatment plant staff in handling potential emergencies.

Deputy Fire Chief Brooks Martin said, “Being able to collaborate with the Public Works Department at the water treatment plant provides us a great opportunity to train with specific resources that we don’t normally get to use. The water treatment plant has been great to work with from planning to executing and working towards keeping our community safe.”

While this event involves local public safety agencies, it occurs within a broader context of community support services in Bismarck. The Diocese of Bismarck offers pastoral support across western North Dakota, according to the official website. Among its facilities are key sites such as the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit and the Center for Pastoral Ministry according to its official website.

The Diocese operates as a suffragan diocese within the Roman Catholic Church under guidance from the Holy See according to its official website.
