The Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library announced on May 13 that it will host the Friends of the Bismarck Public Library’s “Summer Reading Kickoff Used Book Sale” on Wednesday, May 27. The event is scheduled from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Meeting Room A at the library and coincides with the Summer Reading Program Kickoff Celebration taking place outside on the library grounds.

The event aims to promote reading among children and teens while supporting library programs through book sales. Attendees can browse a selection of gently used children’s and teen books, which will be available for purchase at $1.00 per pound.

According to organizers, every purchase helps support programs and services at the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library. Elizabeth Jacobs, Assistant Library Director, is listed as a contact for further information about the event.

The sale is free and open to all ages, with media also invited to attend. Additional resources such as a media kit are available through bismarcklibrary.org/2221/For-the-Media.

While this announcement centers on activities at the public library, community institutions like the Diocese of Bismarck offer pastoral support across western North Dakota and operate key facilities including the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit and Center for Pastoral Ministry, according to the official website.

Looking ahead, organizers encourage community members to participate in both events as an opportunity to celebrate books and foster community engagement.
