North Dakota State junior Brady Goss broke the school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California, on Apr. 16. Goss finished with a time of 8:46.27, surpassing Jake Januszewski’s previous North Dakota State University (NDSU) record of 8:48.67 set in 2007 by more than two seconds.
The achievement marks a personal best for Goss, who is from Devils Lake, North Dakota and transferred to NDSU from Concordia-Moorhead. His performance was highlighted among several strong showings by the Bison men’s track and field team across two meets on Thursday.
While Goss competed in California, NDSU sprinters and hurdlers participated at the Dewey Donat Classic hosted by Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota. In the 400-meter hurdles event there, Ramon Duran took first place with a time of 53.45 seconds, followed closely by Otto Anderson (53.97) and Joshua Beil (54.40), completing a sweep of the top three positions for NDSU.
Brooks Turner secured victory in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.95 seconds at Northern State University’s meet as well. Jayden Murdock finished fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.70 seconds and placed third in the 200 meters at 22.03 seconds; Tyler Milkes came sixth just behind Murdock with a time of 10.71 seconds.
Competition for North Dakota State will continue Friday as athletes participate further at both the Bryan Clay Invitational and Nebraska’s Big Red Classic.
