Burleigh County announced on May 15 a job opening for the position of Legal Assistant I in Bismarck, North Dakota. The full-time role offers an hourly wage ranging from $21.62 to $23.52 and includes full benefits.
The position is responsible for clerical, technical, and paraprofessional activities supporting agency legal staff under the supervision of the State’s Attorney or administrative supervisors. Candidates must have two years’ experience performing legal office support or an equivalent combination of education and experience. An associate degree with emphasis in the legal field is preferred. Primary duties include collecting documents and reports, consulting with court clerks for case scheduling, notifying witnesses about trial dates, preparing case files and subpoenas, maintaining court calendars, assisting in preparation of pleadings and motions, ensuring timely filing of documents in court, preparing exhibits for presentation in courtrooms, coordinating schedules with law enforcement agencies for officer appearances in court cases, scheduling attorney appointments with clients or professionals involved in cases; providing general clerical assistance such as typing and filing; evaluating information related to public or personal records; assisting with documentation tasks including dispositions and filings; acting as backup when needed; among other assigned duties.
