Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak (R-ND) recently concluded her first state work period, engaging with North Dakotans across various sectors. Her itinerary included discussions on energy innovation, economic development, law enforcement coordination, and long-term care challenges.
At the Energy Progress & Innovation Conference (EPIC), Fedorchak emphasized North Dakota’s leadership in energy innovation. She discussed the need for an affordable and reliable energy grid.
During a meeting with Washburn’s mayor, topics included economic development, energy infrastructure, childcare expansion, and affordable housing.
Fedorchak toured Coal Creek Station and Rainbow Energy Park, which employs nearly 200 residents and supplies power to over 1.7 million people. Discussions there covered federal regulations, grid reliability, data centers’ roles, cryptocurrency impacts, and an all-encompassing energy strategy.
The Lignite Energy Council hosted a roundtable to discuss federal regulations and opportunities within the lignite industry.
In Morton County, law enforcement officials discussed staffing needs and improved coordination between federal and local agencies for community safety.
Burleigh County Sheriff Kelly Leben expressed support for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) actions following a recent incident involving illegal immigrants in Bismarck. The sheriff highlighted ICE’s enforcement as crucial for community safety.
Mandan Mayor James Froelich and City Administrator Jim Neubauer outlined funding requirements for local infrastructure projects like a new water treatment plant and fire station. They also discussed Mandan’s growth support through federal resources.
Finally, Fedorchak held a statewide roundtable with over 30 long-term care community members focusing on workforce challenges, quality care access, funding needs, and regulatory concerns.
