Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak recently addressed the House Floor to honor WDAY Chief Meteorologist John Wheeler on his retirement. Wheeler is concluding a notable 40-year career in broadcasting, with his final forecast scheduled for May 16.
Fedorchak highlighted Wheeler’s long-standing service since he joined WDAY in 1985 as the station’s first on-air meteorologist. Over the decades, Wheeler has provided guidance through various weather challenges such as blizzards, floods, and droughts. Fedorchak praised him for offering “steady insight, clear instructions, and a partly-sunny optimism.”
She acknowledged the challenges of being a meteorologist in North Dakota and commended Wheeler for being a “high-pressure system of calm and confidence.” Fedorchak expressed her gratitude to Wheeler for his service to the community, wishing him well in his retirement.
