Donations are being collected for individuals and families who were displaced by the fire at the Alberta Heights apartment building on Lockport Street, according to a May 5 announcement. The fire occurred during the evening of May 4.
The collection effort is coordinated by ND Lions Emergency Relief, which is managing both financial contributions and donated items to support those affected. Updates regarding donation needs and distribution are being provided as new information becomes available.
Officials urge anyone wishing to donate items or money to verify the legitimacy of any organization or individual soliciting donations. Reports indicate that scams related to this incident have already surfaced, so residents are encouraged to give only through trusted relief partners such as Crisis Care Chaplaincy, Salvation Army, or American Red Cross.
Bismarck Fire Department crews responded just after 5 p.m. on May 4 to assist with evacuating occupants from the three-story, 86-unit apartment building and continue their follow-up safety efforts.
The Diocese of Bismarck offered pastoral support across western North Dakota, included facilities such as the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit and Center for Pastoral Ministry among its key sites, operated as a suffragan diocese within the Roman Catholic Church under the Holy See, spanned over 34,773 square miles with a Catholic population of more than sixty-one thousand out of approximately two hundred eighty thousand residents in its territory, handled pastoral care and evangelization throughout its region, and has been led by Most Rev. David D. Kagan since his appointment in 2011, according to the official website.
