The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has allocated $26,420,000 for two projects in North Dakota under the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant program. The funds will be directed towards the I-94 State of Good Repair Project and the Marley Crossing Planning Project.
The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) will receive $24,500,000 for the I-94 State of Good Repair Project. This initiative involves repairing approximately 20 miles of pavement on Interstate 94. The project aims to restore and modernize the roadway infrastructure while addressing existing and projected vulnerabilities as well as documented safety issues.
Additionally, $1,920,000 is designated for the NDDOT’s Marley Crossing Planning Project. This funding will support evaluating various design alternatives for a road and rail grade crossing on North Dakota Highway 1804 southwest of Trenton. The project will also cover preliminary engineering, NEPA review, public outreach, and right-of-way planning.
“Infrastructure is critical to our everyday lives, from supporting safe, efficient travel to bringing agricultural and energy products to market,” stated U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND). “These grants help improve roadway safety across the state of North Dakota and enhance commerce in the region.”
Senator Cramer played a significant role in crafting the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), which reauthorized and increased funding for the RAISE grant program. As Ranking Member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Subcommittee on Transportation and Infrastructure, he was instrumental in guiding it through Congress.
Cramer led efforts within the North Dakota delegation by writing letters supporting NDDOT’s applications for both projects: Marley Crossing Planning Project and I-94 State of Good Repair Project.
