Ellendale Public Schools has been recognized as North Dakota’s newest Vision Zero School, reflecting a commitment to improving road safety for students and families in Dickey County. The announcement was made during an event that combined school pride with the mission of reducing traffic-related injuries and fatalities.
The assembly highlighted the Buckle Up Phone Down (BUPD) initiative, which addresses seat belt use and distracted driving—two major factors contributing to serious accidents. Students at Ellendale introduced public service announcements, banners, and posters designed to educate their peers about safe driving habits.
“By joining the Vision Zero School program, we are taking an active role in shaping a culture of safety for our students and their families,” said Ellendale principal, Cindy Rall. “Our goal is to raise awareness for driver safety and create safer roads in the Cardinal community.”
Ellendale now joins other schools across North Dakota working toward eliminating traffic deaths and serious injuries through education and advocacy.
