FAA awards nearly $2 million for North Dakota airport improvement projects

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced that North Dakota airports will receive a total of $1,906,102 in funding through the Airport Infrastructure Grant (AIG) program. The grants are aimed at supporting infrastructure and safety improvements at several airports across the state.

The City of Minot will receive $1 million to reconstruct 1,500 feet of its airport firefighting, rescue building, and hangar access road. Washburn Municipal Airport Authority is set to get $322,254 for a new 200-foot taxilane midfield to improve airfield access and bring the airport up to current standards. Barnes County Municipal Airport Authority will use $250,000 for the final reconstruction of an existing lighting vault building and equipment.

Oakes Municipal Airport Authority is allocated $225,000 to replace an existing airport rotating beacon. Cando Municipal Airport Authority will receive $108,848 to reseal more than 4,400 square yards of apron pavement as well as other taxiway and taxilane surfaces.

According to the FAA release: “The AIG Program was established by the fully-paid-for Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to provide airports with funding for modernization and safety projects. Since its creation, airports in North Dakota have received over $49 million in program funding.”
