Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak and Senator John Hoeven hosted Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins for agriculture-centered events in eastern North Dakota. They participated in discussions and site visits that emphasized North Dakota’s agricultural leadership.
The itinerary included a roundtable at North Dakota State University (NDSU) and visits to the Grand Farm Innovation Campus and the American Crystal Sugar processing plant in Moorhead, Minnesota. These gatherings focused on North Dakota’s agricultural strength, precision ag technology, and a robust Farm Bill.
Congresswoman Fedorchak remarked, “Yesterday was an incredible opportunity to show Secretary Rollins how North Dakota is leading the way—not just in growing crops and raising cattle, but also in developing innovative technology to do it better. We’re problem-solvers in North Dakota, but we need the federal government to negotiate strong trade agreements, pass the Farm Bill, cut the red tape, and provide tax certainty so rural America can do what it does best: feed and fuel the world.”
Rollins highlighted North Dakota’s role in American agriculture: “North Dakota is rich in agriculture. Wheat, potato, sugar beet, and cattle farmers in the state are driving innovation and continuing the long legacy of feeding, fueling, and clothing the world. It was great to see the next generation of agricultural leaders and ingenuity of American agriculture at North Dakota State University.”
At NDSU, the roundtable included leaders such as Governor Armstrong, Ag Commissioner Doug Goehring, and state producers. Discussions focused on long-term regulatory and market certainty. Secretary Rollins announced more than $340 million in disaster assistance for farmers and rural communities, with $5 million allocated for North Dakota’s electric infrastructure repairs.
Fedorchak also met with NDSU’s Student Ag Ambassadors to discuss North Dakota farming’s future. At the Grand Farm Innovation Campus, she acknowledged the promise of new technologies, stating, “These new technologies hold great promise for solving workforce challenges, reducing inputs, improving yields, and so much more.”
The day concluded with a tour of the American Crystal Sugar Company’s processing plant, highlighting the value North Dakota’s sugar beet growers contribute to the regional economy.
