Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak has expressed approval of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) recent initiative to reduce regulations that she believes have hindered North Dakota’s energy producers and farmers. The Trump administration plans to reverse 31 regulations, including six specifically highlighted by Rep. Fedorchak in a letter to President Trump in January 2025.
“Today’s action by the EPA is great news for North Dakota’s energy producers, farmers, businesses, and families,” said Fedorchak. She emphasized the administration’s efforts to remove “unnecessary, burdensome regulations” that affect energy production and agriculture.
Fedorchak had previously urged President Trump to overturn 20 Biden-era rules she considered detrimental. With six of these now set for reversal, she sees this as a response to her concerns. “By rolling back these costly regulations, we’re restoring common sense and releasing our farmers and energy producers to do their jobs,” she stated.
The rules being rescinded include the Waters of the United States (WOTUS) Rule, which expanded EPA authority over various water bodies; the Clean Power Plan 2.0, criticized for imposing costly technology on power plants; and other standards affecting coal plants and oil producers.
EPA Administrator Zeldin commented on the deregulation effort: “Today is the greatest day of deregulation our nation has seen… Alongside President Trump, we are living up to our promises to unleash American energy.”
Rep. Fedorchak’s January letter called for reversing regulations that she argued were harming North Dakota’s economy by limiting energy production and increasing consumer costs. She remains committed to reducing federal oversight so local industries can continue their contributions.
