Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak of North Dakota has cast her vote in favor of the House budget resolution, H. Con. Res. 14, which aims to set the stage for policies focused on tax relief, energy independence, and border security.
“America is at a turning point,” said Fedorchak. “The last four years of reckless spending, weak border policies, and attacks on American energy have made life harder for working families. But now, Republicans are taking action. Tonight, I voted in support of the House budget resolution—paving the way for policies that will secure our border, unleash energy production, provide tax relief, cut wasteful spending, and restore economic prosperity.”
The resolution serves as a framework for the reconciliation bill through which House Republicans plan to extend the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. If not extended, this act’s expiration could lead to a 22% tax increase for average American families and significant reductions in child tax credits and death tax exemptions.
“House Republicans are committed to extending these tax cuts to keep more money in the pockets of hardworking Americans and out of the massive, unaccountable federal bureaucracy,” Fedorchak continued. “With this framework in place, we will now get to work on policies to deliver President Trump’s America First agenda to make life more affordable, more secure, and more prosperous for Americans.”
The resolution also addresses fiscal responsibility by focusing on stabilizing essential government programs and reducing wasteful spending.
“Our national debt now exceeds $36 trillion—more than $295,000 per American household,” Fedorchak added. “Imagine running up nearly $300,000 in credit card debt with no plan to pay it off and then getting another card to keep spending. That’s exactly what Washington has done. This isn’t just a number—it’s a burden on our children and grandchildren. Every dollar we borrow weakens our economy fuels inflation and makes us dependent on foreign lenders like China. Tonight is the beginning of the end of that recklessness.”
