Goehring announces Agriculture Diversification and Development Fund awards for five projects

Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring announced on Mar. 10 that the Agriculture Diversification and Development (ADD) Fund has awarded $1 million to five projects in North Dakota. The funding was approved at the ADD quarterly meeting held on Feb. 25 in Bismarck.

The ADD Fund, managed by the North Dakota Department of Agriculture, is designed to support new or expanding value-added agriculture businesses that show financial feasibility, increase industry profitability, create jobs, and contribute to the state’s economic growth. Eligible projects include agriculture product manufacturing, animal production facilities, commodity processing facilities, food production and processing facilities, as well as feed or pet food processing facilities.

The recipients of this round of funding are Carnis Meat Processing LLC ($250,000 for meat processing equipment and facility upgrades), Hystad Ranch ($300,000 for construction of a hoop barn to expand livestock operations), J&D Feeders LLC ($200,000 for construction of a hoop barn), Smoke Wagon Meats LLC ($100,000 for a new facility and meat processing equipment), and Travis Dukart ($150,000 for construction of a hoop barn and supporting facilities for an expanded cow-calf operation).
