North Dakota Health and Human Services (HHS) will have a significant presence at the 2025 North Dakota State Fair in Minot. The agency aims to provide fairgoers with access to health information, wellness resources, and opportunities to connect with health experts.

The HHS Mobile Medical Unit will be stationed on the fairgrounds. It will serve two primary roles during the event: emergency response support and public engagement. In case of a major medical incident, the unit will assist Trinity Hospital by providing critical support for large-scale emergencies. When not in use for emergencies, it will be open for tours and staffed by members of the HHS Public Health Division. Visitors can explore the unit and access materials on various health topics such as child passenger safety, poison prevention, safe sleep practices, special health services, infectious disease prevention, immunization information, and more.

Representatives from different HHS programs will also participate in the Family Day Festival on Tuesday, July 22. This event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., under the SRT Festival Tent near Gate E. Parents and caregivers can learn about Medicaid wellness visits for children and teens, becoming foster care providers, and quality child care benefits.

The Parents Lead program will set up in the Commercial II Building to promote its initiative that supports children’s behavioral health through meaningful communication between parents or caregivers and their children. The theme this year is “There’s no right time. Just start talking,” encouraging families to use everyday moments as opportunities for connection.

The booth will feature interactive conversation boards, family-friendly activities, tools to support behavioral health at home, information on behavioral health topics like the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, free naloxone kits for opioid overdose reversal, and available services for mental health or substance use challenges.
