Senator John Hoeven has nominated four students from North Dakota for appointments to U.S. military academies, class of 2029. The nominees include Jordan Peters and Easton Lovelace of Grand Forks for the U.S. Naval Academy, Maximilian Sornsin of Fargo for the U.S. Air Force Academy, and Jonas Kuhn of Cavalier for the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

“Jordan, Easton, Maximilian, and Jonas will do an outstanding job representing our state and nation as they have displayed the attributes, character and educational accomplishments needed to earn these nominations,” said Hoeven. “North Dakota has a strong history of military service, and we are proud to nominate these four talented students from our state to our nation’s exceptional military academies. We wish them the best of luck in their endeavor to serve our country.”

Applicants to military academies must receive a Congressional nomination as part of their application process. These four students have now met that requirement, and their names will be submitted to their respective academies. Each academy’s admission board will decide on final appointments. Appointees receive a scholarship and military appointment with an obligation to serve at least five years in the military upon graduation.

Details about each nominee include:

Jordan Peters is a senior at Red River High School in Grand Forks, scoring 30 on his ACT test. His activities include soccer, golf, student council, leadership council, National Honor Society among others.

Easton Lovelace attends Thompson High School where he ranks seventh in his class of 36 students. His school involvement spans across sports such as football and basketball along with various leadership roles.

Maximilian Sornsin is set to graduate from Shanley High School in Fargo where he stands first in his class with an ACT score of 35.

Jonas Kuhn is ranked fifth in his class at Cavalier High School with an ACT score also standing at 30.
