Senator John Hoeven welcomed on Mar. 25 the Trump administration’s decision to issue a temporary waiver allowing the nationwide sale of E15 and increasing the availability of E10 ahead of the summer driving season.
The move is intended to provide relief at the gas pump for American consumers while also supporting agriculture producers who supply biofuels. The topic is significant as it addresses both fuel costs and domestic energy production, which are priorities for many constituents.
“This waiver is a good step to provide relief to American consumers and a boost to the nation’s agriculture producers. By leveraging the affordable energy produced by our nation’s farmers, we can reduce the price at the pump and support greater U.S. energy security. At the same time, we will continue working to pass legislation that enables the sale of E15 on a permanent, year-round, nationwide basis, which will give greater choice to consumers and open domestic market opportunities for U.S. biofuels,” said Hoeven.
Hoeven represents North Dakota in the U.S. Senate according to his official website. He has previously served as governor of North Dakota and held leadership roles in banking, including as president and CEO of Bank of North Dakota according to his official website. He resides in Bismarck with his wife and family according to his official website.
He serves on several key Senate committees focused on appropriations, agriculture, nutrition, forestry, energy, and natural resources according to his official website. Hoeven earned degrees from Dartmouth College and Northwestern University according to his official website.
Hoeven ran for office championing policies that support both energy production and agricultural growth. As governor he worked toward economic development initiatives aimed at job creation as noted on his official website.
Looking forward, Hoeven said efforts will continue in Congress toward passing legislation that would allow permanent year-round sales of E15 across all states.
