Interstate 29 has reopened from Grand Forks to the Canadian border, according to an announcement by the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) and the North Dakota Highway Patrol. Travel Alerts are expected to remain in effect overnight for Grand Forks, Walsh, Nelson, and Pembina counties. Authorities urge drivers to exercise caution while traveling in these areas.

The NDDOT stated: “We anticipate Travel Alerts to remain in place overnight in Grand Forks, Walsh, Nelson and Pembina counties, and urge motorists to drive with caution.”

For those seeking current road conditions across North Dakota, information is available by calling 511 or visiting the ND Roads map at travel.dot.nd.gov.

The NDDOT manages eight district offices throughout the state that handle roadway maintenance, construction oversight, and administrative services. The agency is responsible for more than 8,500 miles of roadways and nearly 4,900 bridges. Its mission includes facilitating safe transport of people and goods across North Dakota while promoting safety, quality service, and economic progress. The department operates under executive leadership including a director and several deputy directors who oversee engineering, administration, planning, and driver services. More details about its operations can be found on the official website: https://www.dot.nd.gov/.

The NDDOT provides additional services such as vehicle registration and driver licensing as part of its role maintaining the state’s surface transportation system.
