The North Dakota Juvenile Court announced on Apr. 23 a job opening for a part-time Youth Coordinator position in Jamestown, offering an hourly wage of $18.56.
The position is designed to provide support services to youth and their families during their involvement with the Juvenile Court system. The role is expected to help bridge communication between the court and those it serves, as well as offer practical assistance and mentorship.
According to the announcement, the Youth Coordinator will work approximately 20 hours per week, including flexible evening and weekend hours along with some weekday shifts. Responsibilities include assisting youth with transportation for court-related appointments, seeking employment opportunities, connecting them with positive social activities, supporting educational or training pursuits such as college applications or GED programs, mentoring healthy relationships, and ensuring access to culturally relevant programming.
Additional duties involve documenting activities in the case management system, reporting neglect or abuse when necessary as a mandated reporter, participating in staff meetings and court sessions when required, conducting drug testing upon request by court staff, performing curfew checks by phone or in person at the direction of juvenile court officers, and helping coordinate group outings or special projects.
Candidates must have a high school diploma. Work experience with youth is preferred but not required. The ideal candidate should be able to maintain confidentiality; follow established rules; communicate effectively; build rapport with both youth and families; operate general office equipment; and use computer software related to word processing and case management.
