The North Dakota State University women’s track and field team competed at two meets on April 17, with notable performances highlighted by Adison Kapitzke’s achievement in the hammer throw.
The results are significant for the Bison as athletes posted personal bests and high placements, contributing to the team’s ongoing season progress.
At the Big Red Classic hosted by Nebraska, Kapitzke achieved a personal-best distance of 199-0 (60.66 meters) in the hammer throw. This result earned her third place at the meet and moved her to ninth all-time in school history for this event. The team said that five out of Kapitzke’s six attempts surpassed her previous personal record.
Other performances at Nebraska included Julia Gherardi finishing fifth in pole vault after clearing 12-4 (3.76 meters). In long jump, Ella Gardner placed sixth with a mark of 18-10 (5.74 meters), while Grace VanErp took seventh at 18-08.75 (5.71 meters).
Meanwhile, at the Bryan Clay Invitational held in Azusa, California, Reagan Berg ran an 800-meter race with a new personal best time of 2:11.06, and Jaelyn Miller finished close behind with a time of 2:11.68.
Competition is set to conclude at both meets on Saturday.
