Senator John Hoeven has responded to a federal judge’s dismissal of a lawsuit from the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe aimed at halting the Dakota Access Pipeline’s operations amidst the ongoing court-ordered environmental impact statement (EIS) process.
Senator Hoeven emphasized the pipeline’s importance, stating, “The Dakota Access Pipeline is vital infrastructure for our state and nation, supporting North Dakota’s role as an energy powerhouse and strengthening U.S. energy security.” He further noted that the pipeline has operated “for years without incident” and highlighted the extensive environmental reviews it has undergone. Hoeven deemed the judge’s decision “clearly overdue but the right call.”
Additionally, the senator pledged to continue efforts to advance the Army Corps’ final EIS, aiming to provide certainty for the project and the state’s energy industry.
