Reede Construction, Inc. commenced the initial phase of a significant roadway improvement project on U.S. Highway 2 and 2nd Avenue West in Williston on April 21, 2025. This undertaking aims to enhance road conditions in the city center by closing all inside lanes in both directions, reducing traffic to a single lane each way. These closures will continue until further notice to allow for essential preparatory and reconstruction work.

The project was commissioned by the North Dakota Department of Transportation, together with the City of Williston. It aligns with broader objectives to enhance access to the expanding Williston Square development and to fulfill long-term infrastructure goals.

Reede Construction’s task includes the reconstruction of U.S. Highway 2, stretching from 9th Avenue West to north of 35th Street. The upgrades cover increased roadway capacity to accommodate more traffic, improved intersections for better traffic management and safety, the addition of pedestrian elements such as sidewalks and crosswalks, and enhanced lighting and drainage systems that comply with current infrastructure standards.

The timeline for construction began with initial demolition on March 17, 2025, targeting structures within the acquired right-of-way. Fieldwork for the first phase commenced on April 21, 2025, with substantial completion anticipated by October 25, 2025. The project aims to achieve final completion, including permanent striping, by June 30, 2026.
