The North Dakota State University (NDSU) baseball team announced on Apr. 16 that it will open its home schedule with a doubleheader against Omaha on Sunday at Newman Outdoor Field, starting at noon. The adjustment comes after anticipated weather forced the cancellation of Friday and Saturday games, leaving only two games to be played instead of the originally planned three.

This update marks a significant moment for the Bison, who have spent the first part of their season playing exclusively on the road due to previous weather-related changes. NDSU will play its first home games following a stretch of 28 consecutive away contests.

Fans can follow both games through live statistics and video streams available for subscribers on Summit League Network. Audio coverage is also provided via Bison 1660 and free streaming options at GoBison.com/allaccess and through the NDSU Athletics mobile app.

In recent action, Colten Becker led with three hits and two runs batted in during a loss to Northern Colorado. The team enters this weekend’s matchup holding a 5-22 overall record, having faced several strong opponents from major conferences such as Vanderbilt and Minnesota—securing notable wins against both teams earlier this season.

Head coach Tyler Oakes is in his fifth year leading NDSU baseball and recently surpassed his 100th career win milestone. The roster features returning players like Dante Smith—named to the Summit League Players to Watch list—and welcomes new additions including assistant coach Nick Belzer. This season also marks the program’s 30th year playing at Newman Outdoor Field since its opening in 1997.

Looking ahead, NDSU is scheduled to face Minnesota next Tuesday evening before continuing its challenging slate of non-conference matchups.
