The North Dakota softball team lost to North Dakota State by a score of 8-6 on April 25 at Albrecht Field. The game featured three home runs and a total of 18 hits, with the Hawks now holding a record of 26-22 overall and 3-10 in Summit League play. The Bison improved their record to 24-21 overall and 8-6 in conference play.

The matchup saw the Hawks come back from an early two-run deficit to tie the game, but a four-run fourth inning by the Bison put them behind again. Despite narrowing the gap to one run later in the game, North Dakota was unable to take the lead.

Jaedyn Valdez led UND with two hits, including her third home run of the season. She hit her homer immediately after Katelyn Neumayer also recorded her third home run of the year, resulting in back-to-back shots for the team. Other contributors included Brooklyn Morris, Chloe Bethune, and Aleksia Severson with one hit each.

Tehya Armstrong took the loss for North Dakota, dropping her season record to 5-6 after allowing six runs (three earned) over four innings pitched. Unity Nelson entered as relief for three innings, giving up two runs while striking out four batters without issuing any walks.

North Dakota will face North Dakota State again tomorrow during UND’s Senior Day for the third game of their series. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m., available on Midco Sports Plus.
