The state Supreme Court welcomed new attorneys during an admission ceremony held on April 16. Justices Jon J. Jensen, Jerod E. Tufte, Chief Justice Lisa Fair McEvers, Douglas A. Bahr, and Mark A. Friese were present for the event.

The ceremony is a significant milestone for those entering the legal profession in the state. It marks the formal entry of new lawyers into legal practice and emphasizes their commitment to uphold ethical standards.

Justice Douglas Bahr led the group of new attorneys as they took the lawyers pledge, while Justice Jerod Tufte guided them through reciting the official oath required for admission to practice law.

Debra Hoffarth, President of the State Bar Association of North Dakota, addressed the new members and encouraged them “to balance their professional and personal responsibilities.” Chief Justice Lisa Fair McEvers congratulated those admitted and offered words of encouragement as they begin their careers: “Chief Justice Lisa Fair McEvers congratulates the new attorneys and offered them words of encouragement as they begin their new careers.”

After concluding formalities, Justices Bahr, Friese, and Tufte met with each newly admitted lawyer in a receiving line. Grant Walsh was among those who added his name to the Roll of Attorneys.
