North Dakota will hold its annual youth waterfowl hunting weekend on September 20-21. The same dates will also serve as a special waterfowl season for veterans and active military personnel.
The North Dakota Game and Fish Department provides resources for new hunters through its Virtual Duck Hunting Mentor webpage, which covers topics such as license requirements, regulations, recommended gear, and advice on finding hunting locations.
According to the department, both resident and nonresident youth hunters aged 15 or younger, as well as veterans and members of the Armed Forces on active duty—including National Guard and Reserves members not training—are eligible to hunt ducks, geese, coots, and mergansers statewide during this period.
A waterfowl habitat restoration electronic stamp is required for all participants. Resident and qualifying nonresident youth must also have a general game and habitat license. Veterans and Armed Forces members need a resident hunting license that includes both the general game and habitat license as well as a small game license.
