The Crop Protection Product Harmonization and Registration Board is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, April 23, at 9 a.m. The meeting will take place in the North Dakota Department of Agriculture’s 6th-floor conference room, located at the State Capitol in Bismarck.

The agenda includes several reports and discussions on the funding and budgeting of pesticide grants. Lilliann Johnston will present the minor use pesticide fund grant budget report as well as the pesticide harmonization grant program budget report.

Reports on previously funded minor use fund projects will be provided, with Dr. Michael Wunsch of NDSU discussing multiple projects including those on Ascochyta blight in chickpeas, white mold management in dry beans, and powdery mildew in field peas. Additionally, Dr. Michael Wunsch will present on integrating seed treatments with partially resistant varieties for improved management of root rot in field peas and the evaluation of pesticide compounds for managing bacterial leaf blight of field peas. Another evaluation, for pesticide compounds for bacterial leaf blight, will be presented by Dr. Venkata Chapara of NDSU.

The meeting will also consider new requests for minor use fund grants. Dr. Venkata Chapara will discuss evaluating foliar fungicides to manage blackleg in canola, while Dr. Michael Wunsch will address optimizing fungicide application intervals in black and navy beans.

New product harmonization fund requests are to be discussed as well, featuring the North Dakota Grain Growers Association E-Tour presented by Nick Sinner from NDGGA.

According to the board, they are responsible for identifying and prioritizing the labeling needs of crop protection products. Their goal is to broaden the range of available crop protection options for agricultural producers in North Dakota.

The meeting will conclude with the adjournment.
