The Clerk of Court Conference concluded its 2026 statewide meeting on May 14, bringing together more than 70 District and Municipal Court Clerks at the North Dakota State Capitol in Bismarck.
The event provided two days of professional development and collaboration for court professionals from across North Dakota. The conference focused on strengthening court operations, improving communication, and exploring emerging technologies within the judicial system.
Attendees participated in presentations and roundtable discussions covering a range of topics. Sessions addressed public relations strategies to build trust in the judiciary, updates from the North Dakota Law Library and Self-Help Center, responsibilities of the new Office of Guardianship & Conservatorship, administrative rules for municipal courts, information technology initiatives affecting court operations statewide, impacts of artificial intelligence on court administration, and workforce development training.
In addition to educational sessions, clerks attended their association’s business meeting and took part in networking opportunities. The conference highlighted the important role that Clerks of Court play by maintaining official records and supporting judges, attorneys, and members of the public throughout daily court operations.
Chief Justice Lisa Fair McEvers welcomed attendees at the start of the conference. State Court Administrator Sally Holewa introduced presenter Kevin Bowling during one session.
Organizers said conferences like this help ensure efficiency, transparency, and accessibility as North Dakota’s judicial system adapts to technological change and growing public expectations.
