On May 15, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., a memorial service will be held in Memorial Hall of the State Capitol to honor North Dakota’s sixty-nine fallen peace officers. This year, no new names have been added to the memorial.
Governor Kelly Armstrong, Attorney General Drew Wrigley, and Supreme Court Justice Douglas Bahr are scheduled to speak at the event. Lieutenant Dustin Olson from the Burleigh County Sheriff’s Department and president of the North Dakota Peace Officers Association (NDPOA) will act as the master of ceremonies.
The Crisis Care Chaplaincy chaplains will officiate and read the Roll Call of fallen officers. The NDPOA Honor Guard members will assist with the ceremony. Retired Special Agent Duane Stanley and retired North Dakota Highway Patrol Sergeant Jerry Seeklander will play taps as a tribute to those who have fallen. Retired Cass County Chief Deputy Mickey Harmon will close out the service by playing bagpipes.
In a gesture of support and respect for all law enforcement personnel, past and present, the State Capitol windows will display a “Thin Blue Line” at dusk on Thursday and Friday evening.
