Harvest statistics released by the North Dakota Game and Fish Department show that in the 2025 season, hunters achieved a 100% success rate for bighorn sheep, 87% for moose, and 62% for elk.

The department issued eight licenses for bighorn sheep, including one auction license. Additionally, the Three Affiliated Tribes Fish and Wildlife provided two licenses in 2025—one to a tribal member and another to an applicant from the Game and Fish Department. All ten individuals who received these licenses were successful in their hunts.

The North Dakota Game and Fish Department operates statewide to manage wildlife populations and habitats, focusing on conservation efforts to support public use. The agency also promotes community engagement through hunter education courses and outreach programs aimed at fostering conservation awareness (official website).

To further protect habitats and improve public access, the department collaborates with landowners through initiatives such as Private Land Open To Sportsmen (official website). It also provides hunting, fishing, and boating licenses as well as educational programs designed to encourage responsible outdoor activities (official website).
