The North Dakota State University men’s basketball team announced on April 20 the addition of transfer Jaziah Harper to its 2026 recruiting class, according to head coach David Richman.

Harper is a 6-foot-7 guard and forward from Oak Park, Illinois. He redshirted his first collegiate season at Maryland during the 2025-26 academic year and did not play in any games.

Richman said, “We added a great player and person to our basketball program with Jaziah Harper. We recruited him during his time with Don Bosco, and we are thrilled to get the opportunity to coach him. Jaziah brings an elite level of length and athleticism along with tremendous skill. He will be a fan favorite very early in his time with the Bison.”

Before joining Maryland, Harper played high school basketball at Bosco Institute in Crown Point, Indiana. In his final season there, he averaged 17 points, seven rebounds, two and a half assists, and one and a half blocks per game while shooting 52 percent overall and 37 percent from three-point range.

NDSU recently swept both the Summit League regular season and tournament championships for the year 2026. The team also earned its sixth NCAA Tournament appearance since 2009.

Richman’s comments suggest that expectations are high for Harper’s impact on the team as preparations begin for next season.
