North Dakota State University softball completed a sweep of Kansas City on Apr. 20, winning the third game of their Summit League series 5-3 at Tharaldson Park.

The win marks NDSU’s second league sweep of the season and their first time sweeping two Summit League opponents in the same year since 2023. This achievement is notable as it also represents the last time NDSU swept Kansas City.

Bella Dean led the Bison offense, going 2-for-3 with three runs batted in. After Kansas City scored early, Dean tied the game with an RBI single to left field, bringing home Amai Hanta. In the fourth inning, Macy Fry was hit by a pitch with bases loaded to give NDSU a lead, followed by an infield single from Star Cortez and another two-RBI single from Dean that extended the advantage to 5-1.

Kansas City mounted a late rally in the seventh inning but was held off as Jocelyn McClary secured her second complete game victory of the series and fifth in league play this season. Taylinn Warren also contributed two hits for NDSU while Hanta scored twice.

NDSU finishes its six-game homestand with four wins and will travel north next week to face North Dakota for its final road series of the regular season. The matchup against the Fighting Hawks is scheduled to begin Friday at 6 p.m.
