The University of North Dakota women’s tennis team lost to Denver, 4-0, in the Summit League Women’s Tennis Championship match on April 25 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
This result ends the Fighting Hawks’ season with a record of 14 wins and 10 losses. The team finished just one win short of securing an automatic spot in the NCAA Tennis Championships for the first time since joining Division I.
During doubles play, North Dakota tried to keep pace but faced a strong performance from top-seeded Denver. The Pioneers took an early lead after winning both the first and second doubles matches by scores of 6-3. The third doubles match was left unfinished with North Dakota’s Alyssa Giupponi and Emma Roberts ahead at 4-3.
Denver maintained its momentum into singles competition, winning all opening sets across six courts. The Pioneers then secured three consecutive two-set victories on courts six, four, and one to clinch their twelfth straight conference championship title.
