The Oliver County Commission released its agenda on May 9 for the upcoming meeting scheduled for May 12, 2026. The session is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. with a call to order and will include several items covering county business and public input.
The agenda outlines key matters such as approval of the day’s agenda, minutes from previous meetings, and bills. Public comment time is also scheduled, allowing community members an opportunity to speak in accordance with established policy.
Updates from the Sheriff’s Office and Road Superintendent are planned. The commission will consider highway utility permits from Roughrider Electric and WRT during this portion of the meeting.
Planning and zoning updates are set for discussion at 2:00 p.m., including conditional use permits and building permits related to residential houses and agricultural buildings. There will also be consideration of a permit for Minnesota Power’s HVDC transmission line project. Second readings are scheduled for amendments regarding wind energy facility setbacks from non-participating residences as well as ordinances related to direct air capture or carbon dioxide collection facilities.
An executive session is slated for 3:00 p.m., followed by other business items such as portfolio updates, a personal appearance by Tara Dukart, board appointments to the Lewis & Clark Regional Development Council, and review of courthouse security measures including panic button quotes.
According to policy stated in the agenda release, each person wishing to make a public comment must provide their name and write down their address before speaking. Comments are limited to three minutes per person within an overall time frame determined by the commission.
