U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer, representing North Dakota and serving on the Senate Armed Services Committee, has announced his nominees for the U.S. military academies for 2024. The selected individuals are Kendall Jones, Gus Maughan, and Luke Naslund.
Senator Cramer expressed his enthusiasm about the nominations: “One of the great joys of serving North Dakota in Congress is nominating some of our best young patriots for appointments to our military academies,” he stated. “After visiting with Kendall, Gus, and Luke, I am honored and grateful they are willing to answer the call to serve. They will be great ambassadors of our state.”
The nominees include Kendall Jones for the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. She is active in swimming, softball, weightlifting, Student Council, and the National Honor Society. Additionally, she enjoys hunting and fishing. Kendall hails from Fargo and attends Shanley High School.
Gus Maughan has been nominated for the U.S. Air Force Academy. He serves as Senior Captain of his high school football team and participates in wrestling. Gus is involved with hiking and camping activities, contributes to the National Honor Society and Fargo North Student Council, and coaches youth wrestling. He also resides in Fargo where he studies at Fargo North High School.
Luke Naslund is nominated for the U.S. Naval Academy. His extracurricular activities include tennis and taekwondo; he volunteers with the Salvation Army as well. Luke teaches taekwondo, plays piano, and is part of his school’s marching band in Bismarck where he attends Bismarck High School.
