Senator John Hoeven attended the grand opening of the Century View affordable housing complex in Bismarck, North Dakota. The project, valued at $11.2 million, provides 40 housing units designed for low-income families and individuals. The complex includes three apartment buildings with various floor plans and a community building offering amenities such as balconies, patios, in-unit laundry, green space, a community room, kitchen, and office space.
Federal funding exceeding $3 million supported the project. Senator Hoeven helped secure this funding through his role on the Senate Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriation Committee. The funding breakdown includes $2.25 million from the Home Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) funds and $813,000 in Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC). These credits were used by developers to secure approximately $7 million in project equity. Additionally, Section 8 housing vouchers will provide rental assistance to eligible residents.
“Century View will serve as an important asset for the Bismarck community, providing 40 families with affordable housing and helping address one of the biggest challenges our communities face,” said Hoeven. “This project is now a reality, with amenities that any tenant would want because the developers were able to leverage more than $3 million of federal funding to secure private investment of $7 million.”
Century View is part of ongoing efforts led by Hoeven to promote affordable housing through federal programs like HOME and LIHTC. Earlier this year, he celebrated the completion of Milton Earl Apartments in Fargo for low-income seniors and continues to support other projects such as the Lashkowitz Riverfront Project.
