Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, has voiced criticism against President Biden’s energy policies. Hoeven argues that these policies restrict U.S. oil production, impacting both economic and national security. According to Hoeven, the administration’s actions lead to increased reliance on energy from countries like Iran, Venezuela, and Russia, which have less stringent environmental standards than the United States.
Hoeven expressed concerns over the lack of enforcement of sanctions on Iran by the Biden administration. He highlighted that this allows Iran to continue funding terrorist organizations such as Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis in Yemen through oil exports.
In response to these issues, Hoeven is advocating for regulatory relief for domestic energy production. He aims to leverage America’s vast reserves of oil, gas, and coal. Additionally, he is urging the Biden administration to adopt a policy of maximum pressure on Iran and enforce sanctions without exceptions.
“This is about the cost to U.S. consumers and the rising inflation that results when we can’t produce energy here at home,” stated Hoeven. “When Iran attacks Israel, where do they get the funding for those drones and missiles? It comes from energy and selling oil.”
Hoeven criticized current policies by pointing out that they fail to benefit environmental standards globally since countries like Russia or Venezuela operate with lower standards compared to those in the U.S.
“There is no common sense to these policies in any way, shape or form,” said Hoeven. “They hurt every single American, every single day, and our allies as well.”
