Senators John Hoeven and Kevin Cramer have introduced a resolution in the U.S. Senate to honor the North Dakota State University (NDSU) Bison football team for winning their 10th NCAA Division I FCS national championship. The senators delivered remarks on the Senate floor, highlighting the team’s achievements and acknowledging the contributions of players, coaches, staff, and supporters.
“NDSU has a truly impressive team and a tremendous program,” stated Senator Hoeven. He mentioned discussions with President Donald Trump about arranging a White House visit for the team. Hoeven also praised Head Coach Tim Polasek for his leadership in his first year as head coach, emphasizing the dedication of “Bison Nation” who consistently support the team.
Senator Cramer described NDSU’s success as a “dynasty,” noting that quarterbacks Tommy Mellott from Montana State and Cam Miller from NDSU faced each other again after previously competing as freshmen.
The resolution acknowledges NDSU’s victory over Montana State University Bobcats with a score of 35-32 in Frisco, Texas, on January 6, 2025. It highlights NDSU’s record of 19 national championships and their unmatched achievement of winning 10 out of the last 14 FCS titles since 2011.
The document commends the efforts of Head Coach Tim Polasek and his staff for leading the team to victory. It also recognizes President David Cook, Athletic Director Matt Larsen, faculty, students, alumni, and fans for their support throughout this successful season.
