Nearly a year ago, Dr. Jeremy Wohletz, DSU’s associate professor of music, entered into a national music contest, The American Prize – the nation’s most comprehensive series of contests in the performing arts. Founded in 2010, The American Prize is unique in scope and structure, designed to recognize and reward the best performing artists, directors, ensembles, and composers in the United States at the professional, college/university, community and high school levels, based on submitted recordings.
Notably, Dr. Wohletz was informed that he was named a national semi-finalist in Instrumental Performance within the professional division of the contest.
“I am truly honored to have been selected as a semi-finalist,” stated Wohletz. “Now it’s just a waiting game, while the judges select the finalists.”
Dr. Wohletz submitted three recordings including: Cello Suite No. 2, Prelude (J.S. Bach), Shadows Blue and Red (Christopher Gable), and Moldavanke (Matthew Naughtin).
