At a recent agriculture roundtable in Minot, North Dakota, Senator John Hoeven discussed his priorities for the upcoming Farm Bill. Joined by Congressman Kelly Armstrong and members of the Minot Chamber of Commerce, Hoeven emphasized the importance of maintaining focus on agricultural needs within the bill.
Hoeven, who serves as a senior member of the Senate Agriculture Committee and as the ranking member of the Senate Agriculture Appropriations Committee, highlighted several key areas for investment. He stressed the necessity of enhancing crop insurance and updating reference prices to provide a robust farm safety net.
“Our producers provide the highest-quality, lowest-cost food supply in the world, and we are doing all we can to ensure that the next Farm Bill provides the support they need to continue their good work,” said Hoeven. He added that keeping "the farm in the farm bill" is essential to address agricultural producers' priorities.
In addition to crop insurance improvements, Hoeven is advocating for better access to credit and enhancements to disaster programs. These areas have been identified as significant concerns by producers and are being considered for inclusion in the forthcoming legislation.
