U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer has been sworn in for his second term representing North Dakota in the United States Senate. The ceremony took place today, marking the beginning of the 119th Congress. This session sees Republicans holding a majority in both the House and Senate for the first time since 2019.

Cramer, who became North Dakota’s 24th U.S. Senator in 2019 after serving in the House of Representatives, expressed gratitude for his continued service. "It’s the honor of a lifetime to serve the best people in the world in the United States Senate," he stated. He acknowledged both the responsibility and joy that come with his role, highlighting successes from his first term such as contributions to establishing a Space Force and enhancing missions at Grand Forks Air Force Base.

Reflecting on legislative achievements during his initial term, Cramer played a key role in creating the United States Space Force, reauthorizing the Export-Import Bank, and negotiating the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. He also led efforts to overturn a Biden administration rule through a Congressional Review Act resolution which he argued would have adversely affected rural state departments of transportation.

As an advocate for life issues, Cramer co-chairs the Congressional Coalition on Adoption and introduced legislation supporting child support payments for expectant mothers. He also founded and co-chairs both the Defense Modernization Caucus and American Canadian Economy and Security Caucus.

Cramer will continue to serve on several Senate committees including Armed Services, Banking, Environment and Public Works, and Veterans’ Affairs.
