U.S. Senators John Hoeven and Kevin Cramer have put forward Nicholas W. Chase as their recommendation for the role of United States Attorney for the District of North Dakota. The senators announced that they have advised President Donald Trump to nominate Chase, who is currently serving as a North Dakota District Court Judge for the East Central Judicial District.
Chase's career includes two decades at the U.S. Attorney’s office, where he held positions such as Acting U.S. Attorney and First Assistant U.S. Attorney. His background also encompasses experience in private practice and work as a federal judicial law clerk.
In a joint statement, the senators highlighted Chase's contributions to law enforcement in North Dakota: “Mr. Chase has dedicated his career to serving North Dakota. His leadership has fostered collaboration among federal, state, tribal, and local law enforcement agencies, ensuring safety and security across the state." They emphasized his effectiveness in addressing crime within Indian Country and dismantling drug organizations targeting communities in North Dakota.
The recommendation awaits action from President Trump regarding Chase's nomination.
