Senator John Hoeven has expressed support for President Donald Trump's recent executive orders aimed at enhancing U.S. domestic energy production and infrastructure development. The orders also signify the withdrawal of the United States from the Paris Climate Accords, aligning with Hoeven's efforts to reduce regulatory constraints on energy production.

The executive orders focus on several key areas: freezing new federal regulations pending review by the Trump administration, directing federal agencies to eliminate burdensome regulations on energy and critical mineral production, streamlining the permitting process for pipelines and other infrastructure, and rescinding electric vehicle mandates imposed by the previous administration.

“President Trump rightly recognizes the strength of American innovation, where we have proven, particularly in North Dakota, that you can produce more energy while maintaining the best environmental standards in the world,” said Senator Hoeven. He emphasized working with the Trump administration to "unleash U.S. energy potential" using advanced technology to improve environmental stewardship.

As a member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, Hoeven is focused on securing confirmation for key nominations within the Trump administration. This includes Governor Doug Burgum's nomination as Interior Secretary and head of the National Energy Council. These appointments are seen as crucial for reversing regulations implemented during President Biden's tenure.

Hoeven has actively sought to repeal policies targeting natural gas and coal-fired electricity, such as the Methane Rule & Natural Gas Tax, Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (MATS) Rule, Clean Power Plan 2.0, Water Discharge Rule, and Coal Ash Rule. Additionally, he aims to address restrictions on taxpayer-owned lands and resources development under rules like Public Lands Rule and various Bureau of Land Management (BLM) regulations.
