Pro-life members of Congress have reintroduced legislation aimed at providing financial support to pregnant mothers. U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer and U.S. Representative Claudia Tenney announced the reintroduction of the Unborn Child Support Act during the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C.

The proposed legislation would allow expectant mothers to receive child support payments, offering them the option to pursue prenatal payments through the court system. Judges would be required to consult with mothers on payment plans and provide them discretion regarding retroactive child support payments. The bill also stipulates that paternity tests are at the mother's discretion and should not be conducted if they pose a risk to the child.

Senator Cramer emphasized his belief that "life begins at conception," stating that the bill empowers mothers by placing financial responsibility on fathers for their unborn children. Representative Tenney echoed this sentiment, noting that enabling child support from conception offers mothers vital financial assistance while respecting their choices.

The Unborn Child Support Act has garnered support from several U.S. Senators, including Jim Banks, Marsha Blackburn, Katie Boyd Britt, Steve Daines, John Hoeven, Cindy Hyde-Smith, James Lankford, Roger Marshall, and Roger Wicker. The bill is endorsed by various organizations such as Concerned Women for America, March for Life Action, Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, Students for Life Action, and others.
