U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer of North Dakota has appointed Jason Bohrer as Communications Director in his Washington, D.C. office. Bohrer is leaving his role as President and CEO of the Lignite Energy Council, a position he held for nearly 12 years.

Bohrer's background includes a degree from North Dakota State University and a law degree from George Mason University's Antonin Scalia Law School. He has previously worked on Capitol Hill in various roles including Chief of Staff, Legislative Counsel/Director, and Director of Constituent Communications.

Senator Cramer remarked on their long-standing professional relationship: "My team and I started working with Jason shortly after we went to Congress," he said. "When Jason came to North Dakota to be president of the Lignite Energy Council I was happy to be a strong advocate for that. Now, after 12 years in the state, I’m thrilled he’s coming back to Washington and will continue working for North Dakota and North Dakotans in my office."

Bohrer expressed enthusiasm about joining Senator Cramer's team: "I met Senator Cramer when he was first elected to Congress in 2012," he said. "I was impressed by his authenticity, consistency and dedication to his principles... Senator Cramer has been a huge part of the North Dakota success story, and I’m excited to join him as he continues to take proven North Dakota policies to Washington, D.C."

Cramer was re-elected for a second term in November and serves on several Senate committees including Armed Services; Environment and Public Works; Veterans’ Affairs; and Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs.

Bohrer will assume his new role on April 7.
