Senator John Hoeven released a statement following the Senate's approval of legislation designed to fund the government. The legislation aims to balance cost-saving measures with support for national defense.

Hoeven criticized Senator Schumer for not advancing individual appropriations bills approved by the Senate Appropriations Committee during the last Congress. "The reason we need a CR is because Senator Schumer refused to bring any of the individual appropriations bills, which were approved by the Senate Appropriations Committee, to the floor during the last Congress," Hoeven stated.

He noted that this continuing resolution has already been passed by the House and has garnered strong backing from President Biden. The resolution seeks to reduce spending while bolstering military support. Hoeven expressed optimism about returning to regular order under Republican control of the Senate: "Now with the Republicans in control of the Senate, we’ll work to get back to regular order to pass the individual appropriations bills through the committee and bring them to the floor to get control of our fiscal house."
