Williston area families are invited to attend a community event, Gateway to Health, on March 29 at the Williston Area Recreation Center (ARC). The event is free and runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event is co-sponsored by ARC Fitness and North Dakota Health and Human Services (HHS). It aims to connect families with resources that support health and well-being. Attendees can explore interactive booths hosted by local and statewide organizations. These booths will provide information on mental, physical, social, financial, spiritual, environmental, and vocational wellness.

“The goal is to help individuals and families thrive by connecting them to community resources and supports that promote strong, stable families,” said Hayden Kemp of the HHS Community Engagement team.

Highlights of the event include displays in the tennis court area of the recreation center. Participants will receive an event passport card that they can have marked off by vendors. A completed card allows free admission to the rest of the facility during the event day. Additionally, attendees can enter a drawing for prizes awarded throughout the day.

A free lunch will be provided for the first 200 attendees thanks to Jimmy John’s, O.K. Distributing Company Inc., and Coca-Cola of Williston.

This event is modeled after a similar successful Gateway to Health event held in Bismarck-Mandan. It offers Williston-area families an opportunity to learn about resources contributing to healthier living in North Dakota.

Voluntary donations will be accepted at the event with proceeds going towards paying off school meal debt for students in the Williston Basin School District.
