The public is advised about an emergency fire closure order on National Forest System lands in the Little Missouri National Grasslands and Dakota Prairie Grasslands due to severe fire danger.
"Anyone utilizing National Forest System Lands within Billings, Golden Valley, McKenzie and Slope Counties should take note of this recent order to protect lands, resources and facilities during this period of severe fire danger," stated Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring. "Even though the area has received some moisture, people need to be cautious as dry conditions persist."
Certain activities are restricted through May 15 unless the order is rescinded. Restricted activities include building, maintaining, attending or using a fire, campfire, or stove fire; smoking; and using wheeled motor vehicles on non-surfaced National Forest System roads. There are some exemptions. The full order is available at https://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/dpg/alerts-notices/?aid=93819.
