The North Dakota Agriculture in the Classroom Council (AITC) is scheduled for a meeting at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9. The meeting will take place in the North Dakota Department of Agriculture’s 6th floor conference room at the State Capitol building.

The agenda includes welcoming and introducing new council member Karla Meikle, as well as the approval of meeting minutes from September 19, 2024. An update on the progress of projects by grantees will be discussed, alongside the usage of any unused funds by the grantees.

Further, the meeting will cover the council’s appearance in front of the legislature, specifically concerning an 'Ag Day Booth'. A review of current activities from 2024 will be followed by discussions on plans and ideas for the 2025-26 school year. This includes the introduction of classroom kits featuring robotics, worm farms, butterfly kits, wool spinning kits, and a career fair initiative. There is also a mention of a Specialty Crop Block Grant for honey kits.

Opportunities for the AITC are also on the agenda, such as involvement in Pride of Dakota Showcases, public events like Capital A’Fair, hosting agricultural career fairs, the FFA state convention, and other career fairs. The meeting will also address the timeline for Ag Mags distribution.

New grants will open on Monday, May 12, and applications will close on June 6. The meeting will review the application process.

The next meeting is set for June 19, 2025, at 10 a.m., where the selection of grant funding will take place. The meeting will then adjourn.
