The North Dakota Department of Transportation has commenced the Chateau Road Reconstruction project in Medora. This initiative is part of broader improvements to the Medora Business Loop and City Section, aiming to enhance traffic flow and safety. The project is anticipated to be completed by June 2026, contingent on weather conditions.
The reconstruction will involve paving, drainage upgrades, railroad crossing enhancements, and the addition of a shared-use path for pedestrians and cyclists. To improve traffic movement along the corridor, new signage and a center turn lane will also be installed.
Currently, preparation work such as fencing, erosion control, stump removal, and top-soil stripping is underway. Traffic impacts are minimal at this stage since activities are taking place away from the main roadway. However, future detours are expected for accessing local sites like the Musical, Medora Cemetery, and Chateau de Mores.
Motorists are advised to heed posted signs and exercise caution within the work zone. For ongoing updates regarding construction progress and traffic impacts, individuals can visit dot.nd.gov/MedoraBusinessLoop.
